A disco ball challenge!

April 26th, 2008

The second challenge of the night inspired by Geeta, was to use glitter on our card…one word…MESSY! I am not a huge glitter fan, because it makes such a huge MESS! This card was no exception…though I really think the yellow glitter adds a lot to the super cute Gerbera Daisy :) Hope you all enjoy the second installment for this evening :)

That’s right tonight is round two of the Virtual Meeting of A*Muse Addicts!! Woo Hoo!! Hope you enjoy :) Will be back tomorrow or something with directions…More VMAA goodies to come!!

Egg Hunt

March 1st, 2008

The past couple of years good friends of ours have held a spectacular egg hunt. This year they are taking a break, so I thought I would put together a small hunt for my kiddos, my nephews and the neighbors across the street. Of course this gave me the perfect excuse to make some sweet little “egg hunt” invites!

I just love the A*Muse MB Bunny Boy and Bunny Girl…I probably would not have purchased them, if I had not “needed” to make these invites. I would have loved to have a used an A*Muse sentiment, but when I was at the store the other day, I could not find one that would be appropriate. So, off I went to Micheal’s to snag this cute “Egg Hunt” sentiment from their $1 bin…woo hoo!!

I really liked the layout on this card, so I thought I would mimic it in this one. I hope you all enjoy the nice springy colors! I can’t believe Easter is only three weeks away! My how time has flown by this year! Hope you all are having a spectacular weekend. Read on for further instructions, and thanks for stopping by :)
Egg Hunt card instructions:

  1. I started this card with a 4.25″x11″ piece of SU! Pretty in Pink cardstock, folded in half, and used my SU! Corner Rounder on the corners.
  2. I then cut a 4″x5.25″ piece of SU! Bashful Blue cardstock, and used my SU! Corner Rounder on the right-hand edge.
  3. Next I cut a 3.75″x5″ piece of Striped Designer Paper from the DCWV Spring Matstack, and used my SU! Corner Rounder on the right-hand edge, and mounted this to my Bashful Blue layer.
  4. I then stamped the “Egg Hunt” image using SU! Lavender Lace ink onto a 3/4″x3.5″ piece if Pretty in Pink cardstock, and corner rounded the right-hand edge.
  5. I then matted the stamped image to a 1″x3.5″ piece of Bashful Blue cardstock, on which I had corner rounded the right-hand edge.
  6. I then wrapped my tag around the left-hand edge of Bashful Blue/Striped DP piece.
  7. Next I used my Crop-A-Dile to punch three holes into the upper right-hand side of my Bashful Blue/Striped DP layer.
  8. I then tied some Popsicle Pink, Cabana Blue and Purple Sheer Ribbon through each hole.
  9. Next I punched a Pretty in Pink Scallop Oval using my Marvy Giga Scallop Oval Punch.
  10. I then punched a Marvy Mega Oval out of Bashful Blue and SU! Sage Shadow cardstock.
  11. I then matted the Sage Shadow Oval onto the Bashful Blue, so it looks like a hill on a sky blue background.
  12. I then trimmed the extra Sage Shadow off of the Bashful Blue oval.
  13. Next I mounted the Sage Shadow/Bashful Blue oval to my Pretty in Pink Scallop Oval.
  14. Next I stamped the MB Bunny Boy and Bunny Girl onto SU! Whisper White cardstock, using Versafine Onyx Black ink.
  15. I then colored in the images with my SU! Creamy Caramel, Close to Cocoa, Really Rust, Pretty in Pink, Sage Shadow, Bashful Blue, Lavender Lace, Regal Rose and More Mustard Markers.
  16. I then carefully cut out the images with my SU! Paper Snips.
  17. Next I mounted the MB Boy Bunny to my Oval with Martha Stewart Crafts Fine-Tip Glue Pen, and then mounted the MB Bunny Girl with a dimensional.
  18. Finally I mounted the matted ovals to my card front.

That wraps up this sweet little Easter card. Have a great weekend…hopefully I will be back tomorrow with some more crafty goodness!

Being Green

February 29th, 2008

So, the weekly challenge over at the A*Muse Addicts site is all about being green! I knew that I wanted to use my “Hammock” image….and thought what better backdrop then SU! Garden Green. Of course I had to throw some Cool Caribbean in there too…am I the only one that totally loved that In Color last year? It was such a great shade of blue, though I do love the Soft Sky this year…but it is a totally different blue :)

Anyways…I thought that the “Relax…it’s your day” sentiment would be the perfect sentiment with this…and what better way to send a little sunshine to someone on an otherwise VERY cloudy day. I hope you all enjoy this green card. Back tomorrow, hopefully…we have a busy weekend ahead of us…of course who am I kidding, it seems like every weekend is busy for us! Fun times!!

Green and Relaxed card instructions:

  1. I started this card with a 4.25″x8.5″ piece of SU! Garden Green cardstock, folded in half.
  2. I then cut a 1.5″x4.25″ piece of SU! Certainly Celery cardstock.
  3. Onto the Certainly Celery strip I mounted a 1.25″x4.25″ piece of retired SU! Cool Caribbean cardstock.
  4. And, onto the two above strips I mounted a 1″x4.25″ piece of Garden Green cardstock.
  5. I then wrapped a piece of Caribbean/White Dot Grosgrain Ribbon (from my stash) around the matted strip.
  6. I then attached this strip to my card front.
  7. Next I punched a Certainly Celery scallop oval using my Marvy Giga Scallop Oval Punch.
  8. I then punched a Cool Caribbean and Garden Green oval using my Marvy Mega Punch.
  9. I then layered the two ovals to look like an island in a ocean blue background, trimming the Garden Green oval so that it is matched the Cool Caribbean on the bottom.
  10. I then stamped my A*Muse “Hammock” image onto SU! Whisper White cardstock using Versafine Onyx Black ink.
  11. I then colored in the “Hammock” image with SU! Garden Green, Creamy Caramel, Close to Cocoa and Chocolate Chip.
  12. I then cut out the image with my SU! Paper Snips.
  13. I then mounted the “Hammock” image to my Cool Caribbean/Garden Green oval using dimensionals.
  14. I then mounted the “Hammock” oval to my Celery Scallop Oval, and attached it to my card front using dimensionals.
  15. I then tied a small Caribbean/White Dot Grosgrain Bow and attached to my ribbon strip with a glue dot.
  16. Finally I stamped my “Relax…it’s your day” sentiment in Versafine Onyx Black directly onto my card front.

Voila…sending you all a little Aloha…Hawaii would be nice right now…very nice…and warm…sorry for the tangent…though it would be SO nice!! Happy Friday once again!

Sharin’ My Spark…

February 29th, 2008

The totally awesome Heather over at one little spark has started “Share your Spark Friday!”…Can I just say what a super fun idea!! She kicked it off today by asking us to create something sunny.

I saw this card over at Hope Stamps Eternal and totally fell in love with the design…so I decided to CASE it…a little :) I added my own little touches, but it was definitely inspired by Rachel…so thanks!!

I hope this brings a little sunshine to your day…I know that the yellow was definitely making me smile as I put this card together! And, if you feel so inclined, hop over to Heather’s site and join in on the fun!!

Splendiferously Sunny card instructions:

  1. I started this card with a 4.25″x11″ piece of SU! Summer Sun cardstock, folded in half, and punched the non-folded edge with my SU! Corner Rounder.
  2. I then cut a 4″x5.25″ piece of SU! Barely Banana cardstock, and cut the right-hand side with my SU! Corner Rounder, and matted this on my card front.
  3. I then cut a 3.75″x5″ piece of SU! Summer Sun, and again cut the righ-hand edge with my SU! Corner Rounder and matted this to my corner rounder.
  4. Next I cut a 3.5″x4.75″ piece of SU! Whisper White cardstock.
  5. I then stamped the ultra cute A*Muse Gerber Daisy (which happens to be my FAVE flower…and I have loved this stamp ever since Jennie has shown all her cute designs with it!) onto my Whisper White cardstock with Versafine Onyx Black ink.
  6. I then colored in the Gerber Daisy petals with my SU! Summer Sun Marker, and I colored the centers with my SU! Pumpkin Pie Marker.
  7. I then mounted Rhinestone Brads to the flower centers, for a little bling!
  8. I then stamped the A*Muse “Have a spendiferous day!” sentiment onto a 1/2″x2.75″ piece of SU! Barely Banana cardstock in Pumpkin Pie ink. I also used my SU! Corner Rounder on the left-hand corners of the tag.
  9. Next I mounted the sentiment onto a 3/4″x2.75″ piece of Summer Sun cardstock, that I had rounded the left-hand corners of with my SU! Corner Rounder.
  10. I then set a SU! Barely Banana eyelet on the left hand side of the tag using my Crop-A-Dile.
  11. I then pulled some cute gingham ribbon from my stash through the eyelet.
  12. Next I attached the tag with dimensionals, folding the right-hand edge over the right-hand edge of my Whisper White layer.
  13. I then taped the ribbon down on the back of my Whisper White layer, and attached this to my card front with dimensionals.
  14. Finally I tied a knot of ribbon near the tag, for a finishing touch.

My very own handwriting

February 28th, 2008

Okay, so Becky over at The Polkadot Cafe put a challenge out to all us addicts to use our own handwriting instead of a stamped sentiment. She made a very good point that many of us don’t do this because there are SO many great sentiments out there, many of which already look handwritten. I thought I would give it a go though :)

I bought the A*Muse Owl Buddies image, and love playing with them…they are so stinking cute :) I did not, however, buy the coordinating “Hoo loves you?” sentiment…but, when I saw it on other cards my mind immediately went to the theme song for CSI…”who are you? who who? who who?”… I so know you guys know the song I am talking about!!

That being said, that is the inspiration for this card…can’t you just hear those little owls going hoo! hoo! hoo hoo!

I hope you all enjoy my handwritten installment…I know that I enjoyed making it! Read on for further instruction…and take care!

Hoo! Hoo! card instructions:

  1. I started this card with a 4.25″x8.5″ piece of SU! Close to Cocoa cardstock, folded in half.
  2. Next I cut a 3″x3.75″ piece of SU! Real Red cardstock.
  3. I then cut a 2.75″x3.5″ piece of Close to Cocoa cardstock, and mounted this to my Real Red rectangle.
  4. Next I wrapped some pretty heart ribbon (from my fantastic admirer :) ) around the matted layers, and secured on the back with some tape.
  5. I then glued this matted layer to my card front.
  6. Next I knotted a smaller piece of ribbon two my ribbon strip.
  7. I then stamped my A*Muse “Owl Buddies” image onto Watercolor paper using Versafine Onyx Black ink.
  8. I then used my SU! Close to Cocoa Marker and an aquapainter to watercolor the owls.
  9. I then used SU! Chocolate Chip, Garden Green and Pumpkin Pie Markers to add details to the image.
  10. Next I used my SU! Paper Snips to carefully cut out the image.
  11. Next I punched a Real Red square using my Marvy Mega Scallop Square Punch.
  12. I then punched a Chocolate Chip square using my Marvy Giga Scallop Square Punch.
  13. I then matted the Real Red square to my Chocolate Chip square, and attached them to my card front with dimensionals.
  14. I then added my owls to the Real Red square using dimensionals.
  15. Next I hand-wrote the Hoo! Hoo! on either side of the owls, and added a couple of Mini Heart Clear Candy by A*Muse.
  16. Finally I wrote the “Hoo loves you?” sentiment at the bottom of the card.

Voila…handwritten goodness…though I am still partial to the cute little sentiment stamps out there! Thanks so much for the challenge Becky…and to everyone else for checking in!!

Stop and smell the flowers

February 28th, 2008

As many know I took a little crafting hiatus a while back, but now am back into the swing of things (I think). That being said, I have made some rather tough decisions in the past month or so in order to get my life back on track. That probably sounds way worse than it really is…but to say the least, I am trying to simplify :)

Today is my last day of a six month commitment, and though it was a tough decision to make, I am glad that I did. A great friend of mine sent me this GORGEOUS bouquet today in celebration. I think I am 99.9% sure who sent them my way (as she kept herself anonymous…silly girl!), and I am SO grateful for the wonderful friends that the good Lord has blessed me with. I hope you all enjoy the beauty of this arrangement…let me just say that it is on my desk and it DOES smell awesome :)

Happy stamping to all my stamping friends…and have a fantastic day!
